From: PFenaughty@aol.com Dynamite, In 1996 I built the 15' workskiff to use as a clam/lobster skiff. It went together really well and was very satisfying. I am a remodeler by day and boat nut all the rest of the time, my friends down at the boatyard laughed at me when I told them I was building a skiff from some 3/8" plywood salvaged at the dump. Things got even more frugal when it came to powering her. I happened upon an old evinrude 6 hp that one of my neighbors put out for spring bulky waste pick-up. It took some tinkering and and a head gasket/carb rebuild $93 including labor, not bad. She turned out great and is my wife's favorite boat she prefers to our 23' seacraft becuse we can go explorig up baker's cove or up the river clamming. I have been using her constantly for 4 years. I have hauled her twice in 4 years. No special treatment, shovel out the snow chip out the ice, whatever. Quick bttom paint spruce-up then back in the drink, It's my most reliable boat to date. I used it as my back-up boat when my "big boat " is busying throwing a fit, starter, head gasket, drive proplems etc.
Thanks for a great no-nonsense introduction to boatbuilding. Definitely not my last.
