I started on "Flynn's Folly" Memorial weekend and finished on August 13 (Friday at that) had the maiden voyage on Aug. 14 and it was a great success... the boat is made from ACX plywood and Indiana walnut trim and floorboards and seat .. the mast was made exactly like "Dynamite" did in the book... I Epoxied the hull inside and out using 6 oz. fiberglass on thehull and deck.. it has Interlux epoxy primer and Interlux paint thoughout and west marine spar varnish on all exposed wood ( on top of epoxy). The first sail was great!! It " scoots along very smoothly and actully is quite fast " where have we heard that before... I was suprised how fast she was in only a 10 knot breez..I did make the sail from polytarp since I knew that I didn't have many more days to sail in this season.. I think I willtry to make one from dacron this winter and put on next season...I will say that I have built many things in my life .. ( furniture.. guitars. etc..etc) but this is the most satisfying project that I have ever undertaken.... I am already planning my next boat.. the Chebacco.... ( I have a very understanding wife !!!!)
